Veenema Energy returns to TVW Fuel Trucks for new tanker

A few months ago, Harold Veenema from Veenema Energy called on partner TVW Fuel Trucks for a new tanker. A clever move, it turns out, as Veenema’s fleet has now been upgraded with the arrival of a new Volvo, carefully selected by TVW Fuel Trucks, in no time at all.

Veenema Energy has been a total supplier of oil, chemicals and energy since 1935. The company, based in Sneek, supplies varying volumes of fuels, fats and chemicals to customers at home and abroad. “One moment we’ll be delivering 40 cubic metres of oil to a petrol station, and the next we’re taking a much smaller batch of 500 litres to a farm, so we were looking for a new tanker to serve this smaller sector. We have seven vehicles in our fleet and realised there was enough demand to upgrade one of them, which also helps us to improve our sustainability.”

Thoughtful acquisition

Veenema wanted to buy a second-hand tanker that hadn’t been on the market very long, so they got in touch with TVW Fuel Trucks. “We bought a truck from them during the pandemic to reach our smaller retailers more efficiently. There’s a very long waiting time for brand-new trucks and we were looking for a quick solution. But we soon discovered that TVW Fuel Trucks supplies recent vehicles in tip-top condition, often with a low mileage, with fast delivery.”

And that’s how it was in this case. Harold and his brother Freddy went to visit TVW Fuel Trucks together with the driver who would be driving the truck. “We explained what we wanted and were quickly offered a great solution: a Volvo tanker with low mileage and an engine that meets the Euro 6 standard. As we have come to expect from them, TVW Fuel Trucks ensured the truck was ready for delivery in just a few days.”

Thinking together about sustainability

Harold notices that customers are increasingly asking for more sustainable transport. “So it’s important that we keep our fleet updated and add vehicles that meet this need. We are currently deliberately choosing not to buy brand-new vehicles, partly because of the long delivery times but also because we’re interested in recent second-hand options that have been built to the most sustainable standards.
